The Mill at Leighton is not only a well-loved village pub, it’s a pub where the community comes together.
Ideally located on the B4380, almost equidistant between the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge and Shrewsbury itself, The Mill at Leighton is also frequented by visitors to the area, who are looking to eat delicious, wholesome food, guaranteed to fill even the heartiest of appetites!
Produce, wherever possible, has been locally sourced, as has our selection of traditional real ales, served alongside favourite lagers, bitters and spirits, and our fabulous selection of great wines, supplied by Tanners wine merchants who are based in Shrewsbury.
The Mill at Leighton has a significant historical background, spanning nearly 1000 years, with parts of the original mill notably being recorded in The Domesday Book. It was this part of the mill that the archaeologists from The Ironbridge Gorge Museum were especially interested in, and in conjunction with Channel 4’s ‘Time Team’, an excavation was undertaken in May 2001 to unearth and further restore it. The filming was subsequently televised in February 2002 and entitled ‘The Furnace in the Cellar’.
